Grand Seiko Heritage Collection “Snowflake” — SBGA211
A watch inspired by winter in the mountains of Japan.
The Grand Seiko SBGA211, better known as the “Snowflake,” has become one of the defining watches of Grand Seiko.
Its signature dial takes inspiration from the wind-swept snow covering the Hotaka mountains surrounding Grand Seiko’s Shinshu Watch Studio. Rather than simply being painted white, the dial undergoes a special silver-plating process to create its delicate, snow-like texture. Grand Seiko
Across that textured surface glides a tempered blue-steel seconds hand—a perfect showcase for Grand Seiko’s Spring Drive technology. Instead of the traditional ticking or stepping motion, the seconds hand moves continuously around the dial, creating the almost frictionless visual effect for which Spring Drive has become famous. Surprisingly Light
Despite its substantial 41mm presence, the Snowflake weighs only about 100 grams. Both the case and bracelet are constructed from Grand Seiko’s High-Intensity Titanium, approximately 30% lighter than stainless steel while offering excellent corrosion and scratch resistance. Grand Seiko
At its heart is the Spring Drive Caliber 9R65, combining a traditional mainspring power source with Grand Seiko’s electronic regulation system. It delivers approximately 72 hours of power reserve and rated accuracy of ±15 seconds per month. Grand Seiko
